Cold Start Knock
I got in and started my truck this morning when I noticed that I forgot my jacket, I opened the door and was surprised to hear what sounded like a knocking/clicking noise from the engine compartment. I went into the house and got my jacket and came back and the noise had lessened, then it was unnoticeable.
This is my first Dodge product, is this a common thing? I had an 04 Chevy with a 6.0 and that engine was notorious for the cold start knock - Chevy was aware of the situation and listed a technical service bulletin (TSB) stating that it was a normal thing for that engine and not to make any repairs related to the noise.
Are there any bulletins for the 5.7 Hemi engine cold starting knocking?

It may be the manifold bolts. Mine did the same thing and I first thought it was an exhaust leak but it goes away after a while which is kind of unsual for an exhaust leak. Manifold bolt repaced and she is quite again. The '03 is much noisier with the Hemi "Tick".
It sounded a lot like an exhaust leak at the manifold, but this afternoon when i started it up, the noise didn't happen until the A/C compressor kicked on (I leave my A/C on auto all the time). I hope it's not the A/C compressor, I'm heading to the Colorado River this weekend.
On my truck I noticed the same thing this morning. I usally start my truck and go back in the house and let it warm up a little before taking off. However, I did not do that this morning and heard the same sound you referred to. I would imagine its common because I don't even have 3,000 miles on my truck yet and heard the same noise this morning.
