Torque's more important in a truck than hp, and the hemi has more of it per cubic inch than the 6.2 Raptor. It doesn't need to be spun as many rpm either, 4500 for the 6.2 Raptor engine, vs. 4000. Wasn't it pickup trucks.com that said the Raptor was the Porshe 911 GT3 of trucks?? Pretty sure the Porshe way doesn't involve adding 150 more pounds to the front of a truck engine that is already real heavy. The gm 6.2 also needs revved high to make it's less torque per inch as well. The Ford Ecoboost, isn't that a 10.to 1 engine, add boost from 2 turbos, wonder how well it will run on 91 octane, cause that will be needed at a minamum. Wonder how it'll last, and it wont be affordable, 2 turbos and intercoolers cost $. Of course, the GM 6.2 will cost you bigtime, as you need the top of the line truck to get it. As for the high lift cams, the newer engines already have more lift than alot of 60&70s muscle engines-it's the duration that is gone, thanks to roller cams making things more driveable.

I'm not sure about towing with it, but that eco-boost is no joke....and tuners are already dialing them up a notch.

Hennessy has a supercharged 5.4 Raptor making over 500hp.....and it couldn't hit 13s. Not what it's built for obviously, but I was still surprised until I saw how much the dang thing weighed.
I will say that Ford's new engine lineup is pretty impressive. I've heard good things about the 5.0 and the eco boost v-6. And the v6 with DI in the new 2011 mustang? 305 hp and 31 mpg hwy? These are all light years ahead of the current 5.4 and the other manufacturers should be working on their own plans......

Ford will find a way to screw that up, has anyone driven a Ford? I owned one and they are gutless. So they added 45ci big deal, until I see one out perform the Dodge its all talk.

with Ford, a little of topic, I test drove a 011 mustang with the new 3.7 4 valve v/6, this engie is rated at a 300 h/p, and dam it, with a 6sp manual, this car is quick, the 4 valve 5.0 ( no more 4.6 ) is pushing close to 500 H/P, granted, thease are car power plants and you need torque, not h/p in a truck engine.

Every one wants more power, 45 mpg gallon, and the abillity to tow the world, 395 h/p in a hemi is mighty impressive.

Actually I'd like to have the 5.7 Hemi in the same rating as my truck in my 70 Swinger Dart, corner good, run 13s all day, and get 25 mpg! I would look at the Mustang though if I was in the market, Challengers look great, Mustangs out perform.

wife just got a new chevy tahoe and it has 315 horsepower but it accelerates much slower than my truck with 310 horsepower. It has no get up and go at all.

the '11 Stangs are winners all around. With the right gearing the v6 does 13s.

I helped a buddy do a photo shoot of another friend's new GT last week...it's a pretty slick machine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3070535...7623980226047/

That put 375 to the wheels stock.

Ha 375 to the wheels stock, 411 hp my butt. That's about 440 hp to the crank considering 15% drive train loss. Ford really under rated this one. Then to think that even more can be squeezed out of it with mods and a tune is crazy. Seems like a matter of time before you can get 450 hp to the wheels NA with bolt ons and a tune.

Wonder what the 6.2 SS camero puts out to the wheels.

I dont care how much HP these new truck have. My 09 CC sport is just fine for me. I know me & my cousin raced in his 09 Denali(SHORT) wit a 6.2 liter in it. He told me b4 we raced he was gonna embarras me. Well needless to say. We raced 3x over. Even wit his All Wheel Drive. I beat him but atleast 3 truck lengths every time. I have nothing done to my truck and either does he. My truck tows my 3k lb race car wo a problem. I have no issues with it. It also gets great gas mileage.
