I put down $$ when I placed the factory order so I am fairly committed to buying. I don't think I would be credible acting like I'll walk away from the whole thing. Nothing is wrong with the overall deal I'm getting, just the fact that they want me to sign earlier than it is arriving so they can get their monthly quotas fluffed up. That's what raises the issues (warranty starts early, trade gets 'sold' to them before delivery, etc.). I'm going to pass on the idea. My only real risk in passing is that my trade might suddenly be worth less when the new truck finally comes in because they are unhappy with me.

You are smart to not sign until you are 100% in....unless of course you want to give up all your rights as a consumer before actually having the truck. I would have been pissed if they asked me to sign to do favors for them without them offering up something, (something worthwhile-like free oil changes/balancing/rotations/trans services/discounted accesssories, etc. Not undercoatings and sealants etc as earlierpointed out), and not knowing when the truck is coming.

My expereince in sales proves dealers do NOT give a fecal flow about customers...even if you think they do...you are just a number and dollars, so good for you for not signing yet. As far as the trade....just expect to get raped on it regardless if you sign now or later. Using a trade is the biggest pawn and area where consumers lose money on new vehicles. You are gonna get wholesale low trade for it if you do not do your research and have not already negotiated a deal for it. If pssoble I always recommend selling it privately when possible.

I have never put a down payment to place an order. If the dealer says you have to they are FOS . Not required in fact most dealers don't mind when someone cancels, it makes it easier to get cars and trucks for sale on the lot.

I didn't go through with the 'early purchase' that they wanted me to do. They weren't pushy and they understood that there was nothing but downside for me. No big deal.

Got word from them yesterday that the factory hold is off the Rams that they have sitting at distribution. Mine might roll into the dealer by week's end. No hopes getting raised at this point though.

Heard another update today. Apparently this applied to fewer trucks than the dealer originally indicated. It was 'all of their trucks on order', but only single digits nationwide. Apparently some connector for the ABS system was found to be occasionally not fully connected on one batch of trucks from the factory (incompetent line worker??) and they had to send out inspectors to the distribution lots to check them all. My truck has been released and may arrive at the dealer by tomorrow or early next week. Rob
