Saw this in another forum. Credit goes to 'watkins' on DT. I'm just relaying it here.

they actually have an RRT to address this issue, probably b/c most dealers activate early.
08-077--sirius inop due to initial subscription set to less than 1 yr.

That is funny. The dealer is supposed to notify Sirius with all your info and when you are picking up your truck. Mine went out and the radio had to be on when they send the signal to get it going.

I checked my letter and the the expiration date is also July 21st. I called them and got no where. The "not so polite" lady told me I had to contact my dealer. The kicker is, my dealer is no longer in buisness. Seems they were a little corrupt, but that's a whole other story. Anyways, I finally got someone half intelligent that understood what was going on and that my dealership is closed. I argued the fact that I had been a good standing customer of theirs (sirius) for several years and originally wanted to keep my original line of service and add on a second line once my trial expired. But since they didn't want to honor my one year trial service on my truck, I would rather cancel. Especially after they way the first lady talked to me. I ended up with a couple of months free on my original account and decided to keep only the service on the truck and close my other account.

I am still not getting my full one year trial because my ignorant dealership had the service activated a year ago. And siriuis really didn't impress me either, I may still end up dropping them.

I hope this made sense, as I have been up way too long! LOL Gotta love third shift!

Why would dealers activate Sirius early? Do they do it when the vehicle hits the lot so they have it available to demo on test drives? Otherwise I can't see them wasting time with the paperwork prior to the sale of the truck.

It seems at least 4 of us are getting these letters that erroneously have our ending date as of 7-21-10. I doubt that four different dealerships all incorrectly started the Sirius account on the SAME day while the trucks were still on the lot. It's sounding like this is Sirius's mistake......

I agree with mtrogers05. Seems a little strange to me, but Sirius is sure trying to put it off on the dealerships.

Never heard of the dealer activating your Sirius account. You are supposed to activate it yourself after you buy the truck. That's the way it works here. After all, the service is supposed to be in your name. If the dealer registed it under their name, make them pay for the next year. Tell them it was their first free year, you did not get a first free year.

I would try that with my dealer, but they have closed the doors. When I called Sirius, the "new" account was already in my name, which says to me the dealer contacted Sirius after I purchased the truck.
