Thumbs up Car & Driver review

Just wanted to let you 4th Gen guys know that Car & Driver July 2010 issue has a pretty decent review of their long term, 40,000 mile-10 month, 2009 Ram with the Hemi. Other than the recalls they seemed to be very happy with how the truck performed. It was nice to see a positive write-up for a Ram in their magazine. You might want to read it if you get the chance.

The review didn't say anything us owners don't know. Milage towing is low, tuneups for plugs can be expensive, ride is great.

What in the hell is car and driver talking abought? Thier no experts and they know nothing abought trucks. Sorry but all new 1500 pickups are cars with boxs.

Real truck owners know nothing less than a 8 foot box is not truly a truck and Dam it, who the hell cares if the nav sytem was acting up? I use a map.

Next year, a ford, gm or a yota will be the truck of the year, big deal, next year all ram owners will lose thier warm and fuzzys and bitch that brand x and not a ram was truck of the year.

IF your happy with a 4rth gen ram, I can respect that, I came so close to buying a new 4rth gen Ram but than decided to keep my old 06.

Dodges are pretty much mainatance junkies if you follow dodges mainatance plan, how ever, you gotta like the hemi, the rest of the truck ias pretty much a car with a wee box..

thanks for your insightful comments (not). Based on your comments, has it ever occured to you that Dodge/Ford/GM design the 1/2 ton trucks for what people want. Not everyone needs the load capacity of a 3/4t or more.

I have driven PU for over 30years. Currenty the 1500 meets my needs of hauling loads of yard waste (limbs, etc), moving furniture, and project material.

Got to ask, what the heck is your problem? If you don't like light PU, don't buy one.

When I was 21, I wanted a badass truck with huge tires and only an AM radio. 10 years and two kids later I'm in love with my "car with a box". You get the best of both worlds....an interior that the family loves and a exterior/hemi that dad LOVES!!

so you want four doors and the upgrades to haul you and the kids arround and the utillity of a truck, than you get a 1500 pick up, car ride and a bit of truck utillity thrown in, so thier you have the car ride with truck box attatched to it.

No one who drives four door trucks is really interetsetd in a truck, to haul people you giving up the utility of a 8 foot box, I agree not every one needs a 8 foot box, how ever the short box crowd is really fun to watch at the home reno stores, loading up 8 ft sheets of dry wall, ply wood ect, in a short box with the tail gate down, yes it can be done but having been thier and done that, a 8 foot box is more pratical.

So, get the four door and short box to haul people and justify owning a truck that really rides like a nice, great handeling car that you need a utilty trailer for to haul the bacon home.

NOw I kinda whish I had the four door car with a box !!!!

I had a truck '07 dodge ram 2500 diesel with a 8 ft bed and no power anything and it sucked. It was a really good work truck, however having power everything in my new 09 ram with a hemi, including the touch screen stereo system (no nav) and the 30 gig hard drive four door vs just a single cab, is way better way way better. However the thing about having the spark plugs at 30000 miles seem a little crazy. My truck has 26000 and counting and the engine is running smooth. Can someone shed some light about the sparkplug stuff. What are the best plugs to get. The same as what the truck has from the factory?

Actually I have the quad not the crew cab. The box with the tailgate down carries 4x8 sheets just fine. All depends what you want in a vehicle. Laught all you want, to each his own. We all know you have a "real" truck with an 8' box. I personally don't think any PU is a "truck". International, Navstar, etc. are trucks.

that is ok, wait till you are in your "real" truck, and 3 buddies need a ride and it is cold out.

and they have to sit with your 8ft. sheets of plywood in the bed.

mean while in my utility car as you basically put it, I can put a load in the bed and more then 2 extra people in the cab, (that is if you have the bench)

it is fun watching you short cab crowd trying to get more then 2 extra people in your "real" trucks.
