Default 2009 AC, brake, and surging issues

Hello everyone,

I own a 2009 Ram 1500 SLT and I love it! I do have a few issues that I was hoping to see if anyone else was experiencing. First, after 5,000 miles I started my truck up one morning the air conditioner blew a stinky old musty smell for the first 15 seconds. It now does the same thing every morning and it is real bad. It started out of know where. Second, when I start the truck up in the morning and drive at 1300 PRM in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the engine surges about 50 RPM's for miles. Anything under 1200 RPM’s or over 1400 RPM’s and the problem is gone. I already took the truck in for the surging problem and they said they could not duplicate the problem. Third, The brake booster switch in the brake pedal makes a clicking noise every 2nd or 3rd time when using the brakes under normal operations.
Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks,
Allen

The brake pedal noise may be related to the switch controlling the 'shift from park' shifter interlock. On some vehicles I've had you can hear that lock mechanism move as you press the brake.

When you run the air do you run it on recirculate all the time if you do you never let fresh air into your truck and the moisture that gets taken out of the truck when not on recirc. stays and creates moisture, There is a treatment you spray into them, dealer can do it or you might be able to get it at an auto store near you , If it is just like a perfume bottle or small spray that is not what you want I think it foams and there is some clean up involved might be a good job for one of those young kids at the dealer surely they can handle that LOL

By the way you only need to post your problem once. Stop running your truck on MAX AC and the smell will eventually go away.

I do run the AC in recirculation all the time. I dropped it off today and I will see what they say.
Thanks!

Sorry MAX air is okay but just remember to turn of the recirc button if you turn it on when first starting. we found that opening all windows works faster than recirc. Lets all the hot air out. I had to go look since I havent used the air this year yet much. The recirc button on the first fan switch is the culprit. Since we stopped using that when only going short distances and using the full open window trick for a few minutes no more stinky a/c. Another reason this happens is the tube that the moisture comes out of sometimes gets blocked after a few years, especially if you don't run your air much.
