Care to give a bit more details of how you were driving. From your post there is no way to determine if the "truck" was at fault. Things like road conditions, what you were doing at the time it broke loose. I had no problems getting through the winte with stock tires and esp on in snow, ice, rain.

As long as the rear tires are spinning at the same speed the esp isn't going to kick in. I had it happen on glare ice on the highway once this winter.

Thanks for the update.

Ice is a problem. just goes to show technology isn't here yet to avoid loosing control on ice. Even in 4x4 mode, I drive very carefully when ice is involved. Just glad your ok. Trucks can be fixed.

Traction control can only work if there is traction to be had.....

Well this is the fun of driving a pick up truck, Come on why are you blaming the truck for your bad driving, everyone knows that trucks in 2wd are useless in the rain and snow without the right driving technique. I have had rangers, f-150s and rams and they all spin out in the rain and snow but I know it is going to happen before it happens.
