HDR is quite simple, you set your camera up for Bracketing if it has that option, it takes one photo under exposed, one normal and one over exposed. Photomatix or another HDR program is used to lay them on top of each other, this gives you the detail and lack of shadows.
Thanks. I don't think they make "HDR cameras" so to speak or have "filters". An HDR image is usually made by combining 3 or more exposures into one image. Some cameras WILL combine them for you. Mine will do it but that's not how I make them.
That was my question. Some cameras basically have an HDR feature that takes 3 separate shots and combines them. I've used Photoshop to recreate the effect, but I've never manually taken three shots to combine. I was just curious about your method.

Using the in camera processing doesn't work nearly as good as using a program like Photomatrix. A seperate program allows you to fine tune the image as well as "tonemap" it. I have a Nikon D300S and ALWAYS bracket my exposures. This is the only way to do it in my opinion.

No problem, Joe! That's what i thought too and HAD TO LEARN how to make them myself. It's a lot of fun too! Glad you enjoyed them! I'll post some more a little later! Also, I am trying to get a small photography business off the ground. All of my images will eventually be for sale here..... and with pricing in line with the current recession! I just started the site and have a TON of images to upload yet. I HIGHLY recommend the metallic prints! http://imagex.smugmug.com/
