Question Noob Question Best OBD Tool?

New to the site, and New to Rams

I've been looking at the 2010 Rams to add to the fleet. I've been in and round VW's and Audi's for years and I have a question.

What is the Best OBD Tool for Diagnostics and repair?

In the VW/Audi world we have VCDS (aka Vag Com) by Ross Tech anything like this for the Ram world?

Well if you really wanna be able to do repairs and updates etc. you need the Star Scan Tool or the WI or something like that but the Star Scan is available on Ebay for a few grand if you just want to find out a trouble code and possibly clear it temporarily any OBDII will work in fact I saw one on sale for 50 bucks at TSC in ONtario Canada

Thanks for the info

I was hoping something along the lines of Vag Com witch is very similar to Star Scan without the updates though.

I know an OBDII generic reader will read and clear the P codes but I was hoping that something was out there that gave more access than just a generic reader at an affordable price

Sorry. You want the ones they used to use on the line. That would be vehicle specific. Not sure what the do or use haven't been in the plant in 10 years. Thank goodness.

The Star Scan is no longer supported and isn't intended for use with '10 and newer models. WiTech is the new system in use.
