6.1L Hemi in a 2500 truck??

Default 6.1L Hemi in a 2500 truck??

I thought I read somewhere before they actually started producing the 6.1 that they were considering puting it in the HD trucks for a bigger V8 option since everyone else had one. I was going to post this asking about it, but I think I found the answer when researching another topic. Cummins is developing a 5.6L V8 Diesel and also a V6 Diesel for half ton Dodges...

I would think Dodge would put the newly developed 6.4 Hemi in the 2500 trucks, and not the 6.1 Hemi. The 6.4 is more of a torque motor than the 6.1, and would be better suited for trucks. I've owned two 6.1 Hemi's now, a 2008 Challenger and a 2010 Grand Cherokee, and that 6.1 is one high strung SOB, especially in the Jeep. I don't think it would be the best motor for a truck. Evan the 5.7 VVT Hemi is better for that purpose.

Actually now that you mention the 6.4L...When I read about this, it was back when the Challenger was a concept car and was said to have a 6.4L Hemi. They said that the engine may end up in the trucks as well as a bigger V8 option close to diesel (replacing V10) I just assumed that when the Challenger came out in a 6.1L that they had changed the displacement for whatever reason...

Maybe...hopefully it'll stick around in half tons for a (cheaper) SRT-10 replacement hotrod truck and hopefully stick around in the cars as well.
