Well then I don't like the new programming. I miss the old programming.

2500 miles?? Really? That's not anyone's recommended change interval and makes no sense at all. Why the hell can't we get the standard setup like the Jeep has had forever where you can choose your own interval to be reminded in the EVIC?

I agree. 2,500 miles is ridiculous. Even the guy at the dealership thought so. Manual on my 07 said 7,500 miles (3,750 if towing or in extreme conditions). So 6,000 was already less than that. 2,500 is not acceptable for an engine not all that different from the one in the '07.

My first oil change light came on at 2500. After that, I changed the oil before the light came on at 6300 (3800 miles between) miles because I was going on long trip and towing my trailer. The truck is at 9800 miles now and I have not gotten the change oil light yet (~ 3500), even after towing.

If you have not changed the programming and are getting the light to come on at 2500 mile intervals, then I would think something is amiss

BTW, I'm running mobil1

Mine has always come on every 2500 miles, even with the tune now. I just ignore and do every 5000 miles anyway. I do not beat the truck or tow so it is just plain f'ed up, that's it. That ok, all I do is tell the dealer when I take it in for an oil change ( they keep sending me $28.95 oil change and $9.99 tire rotation coupons ) that the MDS mode is rough when it goes out of it and the oil change light keeps coming on at 2500 miles and they check for an updated flash for my pcm code. Almost at 30k now so might as well get the latest reflashes done before the 36k warranty is up and they are not free anymore.

i really dont think it has anything to do with the way you drive either my wife has a 09 4 door jeep bought the same week as my truck. im rough on my truck and she drives like a old lady both come on at 2500 miles. not to mention i run full synthetic and she runs what the dealer puts in.

The light does take into factors of load, cruise or stop and go as well as weather (temperature) conditions. All those factors added up determines when your light comes on...

Now... Does it really matter? No. You only have to follow the schedule in the manual to be "OK" for warranty work, not the light. The light can be reset by pressing the gas pedal to the floor three times with the key on and engine off. Just reset and change on a normal schedule.

Mine always comes on from 2100-2400 miles. About 85% of my driving involves towing a trailer in town, lots of start/stop. Still seems kind of ridiculous.

I got free maintenance for the first year so always took it in when the light came on but now that's up I plan on changing every 4k-5k. That and the dealer regularly took 2.5hrs for a simple oil change.
