Superchips Causing Oil Change Due Light to Come On Early
So for the first 24k miles I owned my truck, the oil change due message came on right before 6,000 miles. It was almost like clock work. The only thing I've really changed since then was installing the Superchips and ever since I've been using it, the oil change due light pops on around 2,500 miles.
But 2,500 miles? Seriously? WTF? The first one came on around 26,500, and I got the oil changed at 27,000, even though I run Mobil 1 synthetic - just in case since I might have been driving it harder while I was playing with the programmer settings. But since 27,000 miles, I have been driving it mostly all gentle-like, like I normally do, and the light came on this morning, at 29,512. Definitely not getting the oil changed right now, but this is annoying and it's pissing me off.
Anyone else having this problem? Any thoughts on this?

I thought about that and that's why I decided to get the first oil change after the Superchips done at 3,000 miles, just to be safe. But since then I've been very conscious of my driving style and very curious to see when the light would come on next.... and based on my much more mellow driving style, I didn't expect it to come on at 2,500 miles...

SOBO,
when i went to the dealer,
the tech said that the oil light
would turn on at about 3,000miles,
so since i have synthetic he showed me
how to rest the light and this is how i do it:
1. put the key on the turn on position,
2. pump the gas pedal 6 times,
3. then take the key out,
4. then turn ur truck on...
thats on way... the second way is:
1. put the key on the turn on position,
2. brake the truck while pump the gas 6 times,
3. then turn ur truck on....
this is how i reset my truck
after every 6,000 miles.....

Maybe the people I talked to were wrong, but I was told that under normal/light driving it should not come on until the 5,000 - 6,000 mile range (as it did for me the first 4 times), with some people getting up to 7,500 miles before the light came on. Under heavy use & towing, the light is supposed to come on at 3,000 - 3,750 miles. The guy at the dealer asked me if I was drag racing it every weekend or constantly pulling a heavy trailer or something to make it come on at 2,500 miles.

oil change at 2500 miles
Are you reloading the flash with the tuner between oil changes?
Here is my theory- the factory sets the first oil change at around 2500 miles for the break in oil, after that it becomes more variable depending on the driving conditions ~5-6k miles.
So every time you reload with the tuner, the oil change light gets set as if the next oil change is the first one - thus 2500 miles.
Anyone else?
