Default Yet another A/C Issue

I have the single zone A/C system. When I run it on high cool with recirc, every 2 to 10 minutes it sounds like A/C is going to normal mode and then immediately back to recirculation. I ran on recirc from work to home today about 45 minutes. When it first started it was 10 minutes between swaps. By the time I got home it was about 3 minutes between occurrances. I noticed it mostly when driving around town when I need recirc in the Texas heat. Just like to know if this is normal or not. It cools fine.

Have you had the software updated in the HVAC control? It's a recall for not switching to defrost mode but may help depending on how many software revisions behind you are. If that doesn't help the control head needs to be replaced

Yes, I have had the head unit replaced with the new firmware update last year. I was hoping there is another update for this issue. I was curious if it was supposed to do this for some reason due to temperature or something. I know it did not do this before the head unit/software upgrade.

Took the truck to the dealer yesterday for the problem. They think it may be a defective head unit. It is getting worse for sure. There were some stored codes of "loss of communication, A/C." They have one on order and will be replacing it. Computers.

The dealer replaced the A/C control module and the system works fine now.

My blower sounds like it is slowing down or speeding up at its own will. I did not think about the damper. Another thing to write down for next service.

Had same/similar problem, sounded like a/c was switching to a different zone. Would stop blowing for 2 secs, or worse, blow hot air. They could not figure it out/ or find a problem. then when I explained it to the mechanic by saying it sound like this, (as I turned the vent selector ****,) they then found an error code and replaced the unit. It was very frustrating, but have not had the problem since (knock, knock.)

When I asked about the recall, they said there was none.

My '09 Quad cab started doing the same thing several weeks ago. Every 10 minutes or so the AC cuts off for a couple of seconds. I have been dreading taking it to the dealer because they ALWAYS give me the same answer for everything..."we couldnt replicate the problem in the shop".

Thanks for posting this info! I will be printing this thread and taking it with me to the service dept.

My local "Dodge only" dealer was robbed of his franchise and it was given to another dealer with a mega-auto mall. Now they are the only authorized service in the area and they know it.

I found a fix for mine. I turned the temp to cold, but not all the way to max (recirc). In other words, it's as cold as will allow without going to max (recirc). But I use the push **** to use inside cabin air. Has worked fine for a few weeks now.

Fixed it for good with a recall from the dealer.
