Rear Driver Side Brake Dragging
I have a '09 1500 Laramie Crew with 6500 miles and about halfway to work this morning (10miles into trip) noticed that the truck started to feel like it was working harder to keep speed. I pulled over on the side of the road after about another 3miles and noticed a hot smell from the rear of the truck. I started to look at the brakes and found the driver side rear breaks to be extremely hot compared to the passenger side. I checked the parking brake cable and both sides looked good (loose), however the rotor on the driver side was showing signs of bluing while the passenger side looked fine as well as both fronts. I finished my trip to work and then drove back home this evening without having any issues… I did make an appointment with the dealer for tomorrow for service, but has anyone had any similar issues?
Sounds like it might be the ABS system or ESP.
I once had a 93 Chevy Astro van work vehicle were you would be riding down the freeway in traffic and it would suddenly start to shake, shudder and slow down. I would have to shut the engine off and start it again and then all would be fine. It was the ABS system. GM had a recall on it but it never really was fixed.
But, yes, take it to the dealer and have them check it over. It's not something I would want to ignore, especially how computer controlled these things are. Also have them take a special look at that rotor and make sure it isn't warped.
