Going from 2008 to 2010: Buyer's Questions
Hi all. I'm seriously considering trading in my '08 Laramie Quad for a 2010 Crew Cab. I have a few questions regarding the switch.
First off, I tow a 19' boat on the weekends, so I WILL be getting the hemi again. As far as the coil spring rear, I've read on here that some are experiencing sag while others are saying it is about normal compared to other 1/2 tons. My '08 pulls it just fine. So, will I be disapointed in the new trucks ablity? As far as the gearing, Is the "non-slip" rear only availible with the 3:90 gears?
Second, I love the interior of the new truck and that is the major draw to the upgrade. So, this question is aimed at the folks who have a few of the options I'm looking to get. I'm going to get the rear seat entertainment package for my son. I like how you can watch TV via Sirius, but what is your opion of the quality, service and signal for those who have it? Also, with the hard drive, can you upload movies in mpeg4 or other formats and watch them on the rear screen?
Thanks for you help.

the sag probably will not happen with a 19ft boat. if it does, a set of $100 airlift bags will fix if it bothers you.
no downloaded mpeg4 movies unfortunately even though the Mp4 coded DVDs work in the player just fine.
good luck

the pit is 4000-5000lbs with tongue weight of 400-500lbs, it tows just fine and yes it sags but as far as anything else the truck is plenty capable of towing

as far as signal on Sirius, i was in a drive through car wash and lost signal and that was nothing more then a small brick enclosure, anywhere else ive had no issues
as far as tv's i dont have them so i cant comment

nope, different decoders would be necessary and the truck only has them for the DVD player. it's a computer so we would formally like to invite you to hack and share!

You should look into a product made by LaCie. HD Cinema I believe... BAsically its an external HD that has Hdmi, usb and Rca outputs. Load your movies on it and plug it into the Rca in the rear....BEst of all it comes with a remote to access all the files on it.
If I'm understanding what you are talking about, it sounds as if I could take the HD with me anywhere(home, truck, hotel, etc.) and have my movie collection. I'll look into that thanks.
I have a 2010 Sport Crew 2wd i tow a 20' enclosed trailer with a 3500lb barracuda in it. Much more stable than my 2004 2wd quad cab was. Plus this truck drives like a Cadillac compared to the 3rd gen ram.
