Dee Zee NXT Running Boards...before and after pics
Hi everyone
Just thought I would supply a couple of pics of the new NXT boards on my 2010 Ram 1500...the mods are not complete as I am going to lift or at minimum level the truck and am adding a set of after market rims...black and polished...the boards are made of solid aluminum and are actually very heavy and very well built. I am very impressed and they dont really change any of the ground clearance on the truck unlike some step tube style of boards.
The install was very easy.
1) Under the truck, in the rocker panel are 6 holes on each side, the kit has aluminum inserts you place in these holes and use the expander tool supplied to ensure a custom fit (13mm socket and 15mm wrench)...kind of like an expanding concrete anchor.
2) Then you mount the steel brackets with 6 - 13-mm bolts, there are 3 brackets on each side (2 facing forward and 1 facing backwards, this allows for the boards to be adjusted and slid back and forth to get custom fit).
3)Finally, you lay the boards on the mounted brackets, center them as you like and tighten with 13mm nuts (6 per board).
The boards have about 2 inches total adjustment towards the rocker and out, and lots of adjustment front to back.
Every fastening bolt/nut is 13 mm, and again you will need a 15mm wrench to hold the expanding tool while using the 13mm socket to expand the anchors.
All parts are supplied. Enjoy the Pics...

YEP the AMP boards are sweet, but I know people who have had issues in the cold and ice we get in Saskatchewan Canada...and I would have to sell my 1st born who is 19 and I dont think I could get a lot for him at the moment...the NXT boards were ($350) the Deezee mounting brackets, etc ($150). I could buy 2 or 3 sets of the NXT for 1 set of AMP...for us the simpler the better, we wanted to be hunting not fixing motorized boards...but I admit we had a good hard look at the AMP...

When the inserts in the rocker panels are expanded, did it look like they distorted the metal at all? I need some running boards like yours but don't want to give rust a place to start. No drilling required? What was total price if I may ask. Nice looking.
The NXT boards = $350
The NXT board install kit = $150
Total SELF installed = $500
The holes in the rockers are hex shaped and the inserts are hex shaped and you just screw in the supplied tool and the inserts expand and done...very easy...any monkey could do it...
Just remember that when tightening your nuts for the boards to be gentle and a little tightening goes along way when it comes to aluminum...it is very soft.
