Default Electronic Stabilty/Brake Assist Issue

Hi all...

I'm new to the forum today. I am almost 2 weeks into my new 2010 RAM Quad 1500 Sport. Here's the skinny:

* On Day 2 I hooked up my empty 30' bumper pull (half-ton towable) trailer and moved it around the block. I didn't even plug it in cause I was only going around the block. No probs.
* On Day 5 I took it in for a leveling kit (2.5" front/1.5" back) as well as some manual airbags.
* On Day 6 I hooked it up to trailer, plugged it in... and immediately I get a couple lights on in the dash. That pic of the swerving car as well as a warning light about the Electronic Stability/Brake Assist. The manual states that if that light stays on... take it to dealership. I did. 2.5 hours later I got a rental (Ford) and they still have my undiagnosed truck.
In that 2.5 hours - they swapped out a brake controller module as well swapped out the integrated trailer brake module. Nothing.

I'm still waiting to hear what's up since I bought a DODGE not a FORD...
If anyone has experienced this... let me know.

Thanks.
A.

Sounds like one of the wheel sensors went bad or the harnesses were damaged. I had the same thing happen on my truck right after I bought it.

In your case I'd suspect the harness since you said that you mounted air bags. The harness for the sensor is zip tied to the coil bucket.

Thanks for the super quick reply. I really appreciate it. I'm going to pass the idea onto the service guys at the dealership. I know they are stuck.

If problem created by any aftermarket installed elsewhere accessories the bill is on you. Then you get to try to get it back from them.

OK... totally irritated now...

Just got off the phone with the service guy... I wanted to inquire about what (if any) other troubleshooting they have done? As well - to find out the status of the arrival of the All-New TIPM. Turns out they have done nothing more with regards to troubleshooting besides 'calling' Chrysler Engineers (even though I asked them to check out the wheel sensors per OldJeeps suggestion). Then they advise the TIPM is on backorder... and may not arrive for upwards of 3 weeks!!!!

I am choked... I asked them to get me the error codes that the truck was spitting out so I could pass them onto another service center or one of these forums.

Uh Hi... can you say "Raging"?

What would it have to take for me to just get a NEW truck? Swap it out!

OK... Buddy called me back with the error code... C121E. "Brake pressure sensor compartive performance."

I've been reading about the TIPM and that it can be flashed or reprogramed. I have no idea if they did this? Is this what they have to do to clear the warning lights off the console? Cause if so - then they did it quite a few times. I've also read elsewhere that they can only flash/reprogram a TIPM 5 times. Is that true?

The tech also made notes that my Brake Pressures were all over the place. He told me that it should read 200psi but mine was reading 816psi.

Clearly team... this means jack to me ... but perhaps some of you Dodge Lovers out there have some ideas and insights?

THANKS!

Sounds like it doesn't have anything to do with the wheel sensors. What it sounds like is that they have a pressure sensor in one of the brake lines which tells the computer/brake controller how much juice to apply to the trailer brake circuit.

If the brake pressures are reading wonky I would think that they would bge looking to replace the brake pressure sensor.

Update:
TIPM module has been replaced. The service guys wanted to keep the truck an extra day though to do road tests etc.

I contacted the shop that did my level kit to chat about something else - I told him what was going on with my truck... and he remembered that while doing the level he noticed a loose brake line with fluid seeping out. He said he simply tightened the fitting at the caliper. He totally didn't think it important to share this with me sooner.

I quickly called the service dept and told them that today... and while I know there is a recall from Jul 9 regarding brake lines... I already contacted Chrysler Canada to find out if my truck was affected whereby I was told no. The service guys flushed the brake lines twice after this bit of news. And with that - lets all hope that those fakn lights stay off!!! I pick him up at 4pm today. Super stoked. I missed him!
