Your truck may be new, but chances are your tires are not as chrysler bulk buys tires, batteries, ect and they sit until needed.

 

I cannot get more than 9 or 10K out of my rear tires. I just keep taking them back and getting them replaced under warranty, Discount Tires has been awesome. They are mystified as they have never seen their 50K tires go so fast. For the record, I do NOT burn them off. If my window is down I can hear them chirping and scratching just going around a corner. I am beginning to think maybe something is wrong with my LSD? Anyone else getting premature rear tire wear?

 

I have LSD 3.92 and do NOT have this problem. I have 25k+ miles on a set of Firestone Destination LE that easily have another 10k left on them. That set was $750 out the door for 4 mounted balanced with a road hazzard warranty. No chirping around corners at normal speed. The factory Goodyears suck but still I dont think they should be wearing that fast.

 

that outside tire wear is caused by going around corners to fast. slow it down. also keep your tires inflated right. Another thing, goodyear hp tires are junk.

 

i have the same problem..275/55/20 stock size for my 03 hemi..tire pressure at 37psi all around..only 2,000 miles on tires..front outside tires r wearing alittle much compared to rear

 

Everybody is bagging on the stock goodyears its not the tire's fault. My 04 got 80K on the stock good years, the new trucks there is something not right in the rear because my 2010 is chopping the rears at 36k the front is perfectly aligned and not wearing. So there is a problem somehere in there geometry and Dodge is not owning up to it. Are you supprised? Look around and there is a lot of people having the same issue. And rotating tires only covers up problems with your suspension. If you Dont do lots of burnouts there is no reason to rotate. If you dont rotate you will be able to see what your suspension is doing. Once again my 04 went 80k and never rotated tires. If your truck is aligned right and everything is working like is supposed to you should never have to rotate. Rotating started way back in the day when alignments weren't that good and we had bias ply tires. The auto industry has figured out that this is another way to make money and so it has just been kept going through out the years.

 

Normally, at least before this truck I would say BS to not rotating. But since I got the Michelin LTX M/S II tires, I have about 30,000 on them and they are wearing exactly evenly. I measure them every few weeks with my tire tread tool. All 4 are at the same depth. I still find that pretty weird, but true.
So maybe RCMAXX is onto something?

 

Yeah with new coputer alignment and way better tires you should never have to rotate. Even The JUNK Goodyears are way better than the tires of yesteryear. I think trucks should run a heavy duty tire not a over rated passenger car tires but most people want the plush ride. So they put these types of tires on them. If they had real truck tires on them you wouldnt have half the issues that are happening.

 

My stock tires seemed to wear down about 2/3 of the tread in the first 12K miles or so. I rotated once at about 7,000 miles. At that point I decided I would have to replace them before the next winter because they were going so fast so I stopped rotating them, anticipating replacing them by 20K or so. After that we ended up with a no-snow winter so I just left the crappy Goodyears on. Strangely, at almost 36K now the tires still look about like they did at 12K. And they are wearing very evenly even with out rotation.

Nice truck looks just like mine only mine is lowered 2 & 4! and it if it wasnt chopping the rear tires i think i would end up getting about 60k out of this set of tires this truck is a little heavier than my 04 and a little less freeway driving also. Yes i know they are not the best tires but they are also not the worst.
