MyGIG RER Problem
I just brought home yesterday my brand new 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW Laramie Mega Cab! We test drove this same truck a couple of weeks ago and all systems were up and running and FABULOUS! Well, when it was delivered yesterday, I took it for a first run and the kids and I headed to a birthday party. The screen has Uconnect and the Dodge Ram emblem on it which comes on and off but NOTHING works.....I have no radio, no NAV, no backup camera, no rear entertainment system, no nothing! I pulled the Battery IOD fuse, and then held the Open/Close button for 10 seconds to power the whole system down and do a reset, but that didnt seem to change anything. I also pulled the radio fuse and that didnt help either. I know it is covered under warranty, but dont really want the dealer tearing into my brand new truck! On the center display in the instrument panel, it says Radio Off and try as I might, I cant get that to say "On". All of the other features there in that area work fine. What is wrong or what am I doing wrong?
I've had my RER act wonky a few times. A few times it's done as you describe, but it's always came back on and worked fine the next time I've started the truck. While it's working now, I plan on raising the issue next time she's in for service.
I got the truck through a dealer trade. The bad part is I that I couldnt get my local dealer to deal. They had the truck I wanted, but wouldnt budge on the price much and wouldnt give me anything at all for a bone on my trade in. I called a dealer in Denver that had a truck that had mostly what I wanted, but wasnt the right color. He ended up doing a dealer trade with my local dealer behind the scenes. They sent a driver over with the trade on Saturday morning from Denver, swapped out trucks, and then delivered my first choice truck (the one from my local dealer) right to my doorstep. Plus, smoked the price from the local dealer and made me a fair deal on my trade. The only down side to that transaction was that I had a delivery driver doing the once over, rather than a service tech. So.....that is my dilemna. I have called the dealer that I bought through in Denver and he has been great to try and help over the phone, but I think the whole system is dead and will have to be replaced under warranty. I really dont want to drive all the way to Denver 4 hours away to get it replaced. I know the local dealer is required to service whether they want to or not.....but.....you know how it is. Any other ideas?
I'd just take it to the local dealer. While the new truck guys might hold a grudge somewhat, the service department won't know you from Jack. It'll be a pain to drop your brand new truck off for a least a day, but sounds like the deal you got will make up for that pain somewhat. Since it's a new truck the local dealer will take care of it no problem. There's no reason you should drive 8 hours total just to get something as small as the radio fixed.
The local dealer will get over it he makes money on warranty issues, and if you plan on getting service there they win. If they refuse to work on it. Call Customer Service. Is there another dealer somewhere closer than 4 hours just go there, tell them you are looking for a good dealership that you can take it for regular service, and warranty etc.
Good Luck and let us know.

just pull the positive off the battery and let it sit for 10-15 min. this way you'll reset all the electrical systems. give it a shot...it should work. let us know. congrats on the new truck!

How do you reboot it? I did pull the main battery IOD fuse, and also the radio fuse, then held the open/close button for about 15 seconds to completely power it down. The only thing I havent done is pull the positive battery cable.
Just pull the negative cable, let it sit 15 or 30 minutes then reattach. That basically resets all the truck's electronics.
