Default wheel corrosion

Anyone else getting this kinda thing on their chrome clads? I've had the truck a year and a half, looks like I shoulda washed it a little more in the winter. Oh well....at least the plastic won't corrode but at this rate the entire edge of my rim will be corroded in another year.

I have been watching mine closely, so far I am much better than that. My 05 did this though, eventually they all will if you live in a "salty" winter state.

Like you said, best thing you can do is keep them clean. I kept up with mine for the most part weekly in the winter. A royal PITA, but when I spend a lot of money to have something nice it tends to motivate me. I also wax mine at least twice a year and clean them inside and out every 10K (at rotation time).

Also not sure, but I do not use any "wheel cleaners" on my wheels. Just soap and water (well outside cleaning the inside every 10K). Not sure if cleaners have an impact of that part of the rim.

Another thought (they just keep flowing out of my head). The semi metallic brake pads... That is corrosive. I put ceramics on mine at 15K. In 3-4 years when I get a new truck I will probably do it before 1K!

Yeah.. this winter I'll start washing them weekly instead of monthly. Although it would probably look as good to just let the whole rim corrode since they've corroded this much.

It sucks but I'm not too concerned, its really not that noticeable from a short distance, especially since my truck is dirty most of the time anyways

Mine look a little worse than this they are the 17's though. I thought mine where doing it only because my dog loves to pee on them every day.
