Oil change interval with synthetic
If oils don't sludge and wax up any more where did the build up in this 4.7 liter motor come from. "Some still do",and Some company's recycle oil.I'll stick with Castrol GTX, For my Harley's and Synthetic for my Hemi. I'll Never let a quicky-lube put oil in anything. As for QS, I wouldn't put it in my lawn mower.I'll be passing by the Quick-Lube that gummed up this motor and I'll find out what kind of oil they use.Whatever it is,It sure did a number on this Dodge.
The new oils rated for the Hemi and such don't sludge anymore.NEW technology.I gave you a link to read on such. The 4.7s have a minor issue with moisture building up in the oil filler tube.QS and Pennzoil oils are considered super products these days.Don't just take my word on such.Do some searching on the Internet.Up to date info is out there if you just look for it.
My dealership placed a QuakerState "next oil change" reminder sticker on my windshield but who knows what they actually put in it.
I only let them do the first oil change due to reported issues with difficult filter removal. I'll do my own changes from here on out and thereby know exactly what gets into the crankcase.
They probably used QS.The oil suppliers that supply them also supply the reminders.5w20 oil just in the way its formulated has more synthetic propertys then dino oil.In essence 5w20s are group 3 and some group 4 synthetic just to make a 5w20.
I change the oil in my hemi every 5K miles, dino or full synthetic treated the same. The hemi is very easy on oil. Heck, runs less than 2K rpm most of the time and has a 7 quart sump. Bob has very good objective info on oils.
Just wandering when is a good time to switch to Synthetic. I was told by the dealer that I have to wait after my third oil change because it is a new engine?? I have 5500 KM. Also, is it worth it to change my trani, diff and trasfer case to synthtetic.
