any Brake Controller wiring experts here?
this problem is really strange
I have a 2010 ram that didn't have the factory brake controller, so I bought the grey wiring harness from Dodge and tried to wire my old Brake Force brake controller to it.... I thought all was well, but some really strange things are happening and I can't figure out the problem
-when I press on the truck brake pedal, the trailer brake lights work, but no trailer brakes
-when I press the manual slider switch on the brake controller, the trailer brake lights do not work, nor do the truck brake lights EXCEPT strangely the top brake light on the roof of the truck goes on... no trailer brakes either
- the green light on the brake controller reacts properly to the truck brake pedal, and also works properly with the brake controller's own slider switch
so to summarize, no trailer brakes, but controller led seems ok and seeing strange things with the brake lights
could I have a two wires mixed up in the brake controller wiring possibly?
any other ideas? I need to hit the road in 12 hours, so this is a last minute stress
I think it is a Brake Force 47225 controller
I have it wired from the brake controller to the dodge grey connector:
blue to green
white to black
red to white
black to yellow/red stripe
any help much appreciated

Postponed, but got it working today, the strange symptoms were due to improper wiring in the trailer
Now I have to figure out how to get at the torx screw on the left side of the cubby hole so I can mount it

There are two screws at the bottom of the dash (the piece around the steering column) that have to be removed with a Phillips screwdriver or I thought a 7mm socket.
Then you have to remove the panel on the left end of the dash. The piece that is normally between the door and the dash. It pulls right off with a firm tug.
Then you remove the 2 screws that hold the cubby from the very left side of the dash. They are Torx T20. I had to remove this cubby when I put in my aftermarket brake controller. Once you get it apart happy Dremel'ing.

Gently pry out on the panels front edge and then swing the panel away from the dash. It's mostly held in with friction clips, but the back edge has a lip secured by the rubber door trim. The whole panel will come off.
