Default Any ideas on getting better MPG

I have a 2010 Ram 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi. Does anyone know a way to get a littler better MPG's out if it? Will a Tuner or K&N get me any better MPGs? Right now I am only getting around 9 MPG City and 14 Hwy.

Thanks.

I get 19-21 on the highway (3.21 gears) The best way to get better milage is to keep your foot out of the gas and find the sweet spot where the MDS kicks in and stays on.

I have tried keeping my foot out of it and I have had no change in milage. Also the 2500 Hemi does not have MDS.

not much you can do to the 2500 to increase gas mileage. Places to start trying would be cold air intake and exhaust. the tuner will only help with the torque management on these trucks and I have not seen an increase in mpg with my tuner yet. But my intake and exhaust got me about 1.5 to 2 mpg highway.

Sorry, missed the part about the 2500. The yup, nothing you can do about it.

Out of curiosity, why do people buy 3/4 tons with the Hemi?

Damn, that sucks just because it's a 2500... The 1500's with Hemi's get GREAT milage... Should have bought a Diesel... And I'm with oldjeep... why would you get a 2500 with a Hemi?

because the cummins is about a 7k or 8k dollar option so if you are only pulling around 15k pound loads then the hemi will be fine. Plus you get the increased payload over a 1500. And correct me if i'm wrong but your signature is wrong. If you have the 4.7 then I though the max tow rating was only about 8k pounds. you have 10,200 and that is for trucks with the hemi.

Not hating but you bought a 2500, that decision alone dictates poor MPG, but look at this way you got one kick *** truck, but yeah I would of bought the diesel.

8k cheaper...lifetime powertrain warranty (stole the bumper to bumper lifetime for $1281). My 09 is the 3rd gen body with 4th gen hemi. Sure I love the new 2010's, just drove one the other day (52K on the sticker)...but @ 29,900 for a 4x4 QC lonestar edition, it made more sense to me to get the gasser. We have a 28' th wheel that we pulled from Oregon back to Texas. Saw 11 mpg in California (55 mph speed limit while towing) and as low as 8 mpg pulling across I-40 @ the continental divide. Never a power issue, even @ altitude (8k). New 6.7's are getting 13 mpg empty on the highway, taking up to 50k to break in, and improve to 15-17 empty. Soooo, not everyone has the need for a new diesel truck (hell must diesel trucks are pavement queens that don't haul more than igloo cooler and the occasional ski boat.) Enough of the rant, just don't say the guy is for buying a 2500 with a Hemi.
