Default Rear window cracked, anybody else?

I had a section of my rear window shatter the other day for no apparent reason. No impact, truck was just sitting there and poof. It was about 108F outside when it happened.

I asked the glass repair guy if the heat would cause this but he said that it shouldn't unless the glass was defective and maybe I should contact dodge about it. Just wanted to see if this has happened to anybody else, or if this was just a weird accident.

Pretty weird. Looks like whatever force was applied came from the top near the middle.

I've heard of heat doing this before with no defects.

Definitely looks like top centre stress. Are you sure it wasn't hit? Even if the frame was hit before it shattered would put stress on the glass. And then the heat was what put it over the edge so to speak. Possibly a manufacturing defect when the glass was bonded to the frame too.

If there was no evindence of impact, it should be warranty.

I couldn't see evidence of an impact from anything. Anyway, thank goodness for insurance. That piece of glass was over $800 according to the adjuster and the guy at the shop. Unfortunately, the shop broke the tabs on the floor storage bin latch while climbing around inside and the power sliding window doesn't work anymore. The shop is supposed to sort it out, hopefully they won't drag their feet too much.

Yes, sir. Wichita KS.

E. 21st would be pretty likely that's right on my usual route.

This happened to someone else on this forum last year I think. It was the rear window and there was no impact, the dealer replaced it under warranty

was that the person that had the rear passenger door window blow out? i remember that one but not one like this.
i don't envy you trying to get dodge to accept responsibility. i have heard several people that have broken their rear panes by hitting them here(on this site). i would imagine that's a relatively common occurrence.
