Default Switch under hood. Help!

I have a switch under the hood of my 09 1500 laramie. it is mounted right on the crossbar just to the right of the horns. it looks like the hood presses in the button whenever it is closed. i believed it to be the underhood light, but the light doesnt go off when i press it. what is this switch? i am trying to mount some kc lights and it is in the way.

thanks for the help!

that's the switch/sensor for hood ajar (equivalent to door ajar). Take it out and press remote start in you fob key and it will not start and EVIC will show error message that the hood is open.

x2...its the sensor for the remote start to make sure the hood is closed.

Hi,
I have just purchased a 2011 Laramie and when I try the (2x)remote start I get the error message the hood is open. I located the switch under the hood and everything looks fine. Is there any adjustment there? Can the switch be jumped?

Just to eliminate some outside possibilities and provide a "checklist," do any of the below conditions apply when this happens? Also, does this happen every time you attempt a remote start?

Symptom/Vehicle Issue:
Vehicle Will Shut Off After A Remote Start Attempt

Discussion:
Remote start equipped vehicles, sales code XBM, may remote start and then shut off for the following reasons.

Low fuel lamp on or at fuel level of telltale lamp on.
Low Voltage below 11 V
High Voltage above 16 V
Key in Ignition
Doors or hood are opened before remote unlock
Hazard Switch depressed
Panic or theft alarm active
Brake applied
A prior remote start cranked the engine, but failed to start the engine
Battery voltage NOT in the normal range
High (run away) or Low Idle (stall) RPM
MIL Active
High Engine Coolant Temperature
Low Engine Oil Pressure
Remote start allows a maximum of two starts per ignition off cycle; cycling the ignition resets

No, none of these issues seem to apply. It does do this every time. I press the button two times, the lights will flash on the second time but nothing else happens except the hood not closed message.

How recently did you purchase this vehicle, and is it Certified Pre-Owned? Any type of warranty on it?

There is no further info or any TSBs that could be related to what you're experiencing, so I would recommend a trip to a FCA dealership.

No, it only has a powertrain warranty on it. Maybe I can remove the switch and make sure it's moving correctly. What happens if I just jump the connection at the plug? It should be just an open/close switch right. If that makes it work I can just replace the switch.
