The Transmission "flush" is a rip to me, I am NEVER going to pay $300 for it. For many years we could just change the fluid, now we "have" to flush it? If the amount of fluid in the torque converter bothers you just change the fluid again in a couple hundred miles.

Draining the pan leaves more than 1/3 of the fluid in the trans. Its not just in the convertor, it is in the VB, pump and all of the clutch packs and piston circuits. Do what you like, but if all you do is drain the pan you are just mixing your new fluid with a whole lot of old fluid.

For example, a Th400 holds right around 9 quarts - draining the pan gets you 5-6

Each to his (her) own but I have never flushed an automatic on any vehicle I have owned in the last 30 years and they have all seen some heavy towing and street use. I just change the fluid about every 30K or so and never have I had an issue of any type with the transmission.... why do I need to flush it?Until someone can come along with empirical data as opposed to opinion on why flushing the transmission is of any major benefit I prefer to drain my fluid as opposed to my wallet. Just my .02 and probably overpriced at that.
