In another word if you change oil every 3 and 3 your wasting oil and money.

Just picked up a 5 litre jug and 2 single litres (7 litres total) of Mobil 1.

Will have the dealer do the change with my oil, should save me a few bucks, but I can still have anything else taken care of while it is there. I think I will do it this weekend, I want to get that Mobil1 in there ASAP.

just got off the phone with the dealer, they only want $12 to change it with my oil and their filter.

So $50 for the oil, plus $12 and tax for the change, is much better then the $105 and tax they wanted for their synthetic, and this way I know it is getting Mobil 1.

I have 7 litres of Mobil 1. Is that going to be enough? Or should I take back the two singles and buy another 5 litre jug to be sure?

You can usually buy Mobile 1 5W20 synthetic 5L @ Walmart for about $30 Cnd. I would buy three 5L jugs and you will have more than enough for 2 oil changes.

I thought about that, but it will always be on sale somewhere. Just need to be sure 7 litres is enough.

The OEM perspective on the oil change reminder:

Probably safe to assume that the logic being employed to determine "severe usage" also assumes an oil that just meets the req'd spec.

Did my first one at 3.5 months and 4900 kms, when the Change Oil light came on. Service manual said approximately 10,000 though, is this a problem?
