Default Strange Clicking Noise From Dash When Starting

Hello all,

I just purchased a new (used) 2009 Ram Sport Crew. I have a wierd clicking sound coming from behind the A/C controls in the dash when starting the truck. If the A/C is on, it clicks a few times upon putting the key into the "on" position, whether the truck is actually started or not. If the A/C is off, the clicking will not occur when the truck is started, but it will occur when the A/C is turned on...

It sounds like something plastic is trying to move, but must be slipping or something... It only lasts for a few seconds and then goes away.

Does anyone know what this could be??? Please Help!!!

Thanks in advance...

P.S. The A/C works normally, and once the noise goes away, it never comes back until the truck is turned off and back on...

Also, the noise is pretty loud...

it is something to do with your ac. one of the vents or the actuator or something. i am having the same issue and the dodge guys told me what it was, just cant remember off the top of my head. it generally does it when the vehicle has sat for a long while and will go away after a while. if you take it there while it is doing it, they can tell which one its coming from. if not, it would take them a while to figure out which one which would take hours. depends on how long you can do without your truck. once they figure out which one, they can replace it and your noise problem will go away.

It is more like a blend door actuator, just looked at mine and it will rotate as the temp is adjusted up and down. Does anybody have a part number/price and proper nomenclature. Tried searching, If it is a $30 part I would rather do that than leave it at a dealer. This sounds mechanical but could a computer reflash have caused the problem?

They quote about 4 hours for the job, so more than parts cost it sounds like its a pain to replace. My guess is that since they are doing a software reflash as part of the recall that the existing program turns the motor too far and winds up eventually stripping the gears.
