Default 2010 CC Laramie Transmission Question

I am a happy new owner of a 2010 CC Laramie and am enjoying it so far (250sh miles) I do have a question for fellow owners regarding the transmission and its shifting. It seems to me that it is always hunting for a gear. I don't mean hard shifting or anything like that but instead never seems to (lock) into overdrive or at least do it consistently based on speed or throttle position. It is kind of hard to describe, but just seems a bit odd.

Does this make since to anyone else?

PS - I know theoretically the computer is still in early stages of learning my driving style, but still wouldn't figure for this type of behavior... Thanks again for any replies.

its prolly the MDS causeing it. put it in tow haul mode and see if it still does it. my MDS and trans fight non-stop, i'm about sick of it. might just have to buy a programmer to turn off the MDS!

Like you said,I think the computer is still learning your driving style,at least I hope so.I don't know what gears you have,as taller gears could be your problem.I have 3.92 gears and have been real impressed with my truck always seems to be in the right gear.

there is no way that the mds is fighting with your transmission. The mds only kicks in after your motor has been running at a low throttle position for a set amount of time like when you are using cruise control going down the road, and then can disengage and go back to 8 cylinders before you can blink. mds will not cause your truck to hunt for a gear.

to the op....what gears do you have. 3.55 or 3.92

I wonder if Chrysler changed calibrations between 09 and 10. My 09 cc with a Hemi and 3.55 gears never had a problem finding a gear when it was new.

Thanks guys for the quick responses.... In regards to what gear I have... ummm...hummm... Well since it was not listed on the window sticker, I am figuring the good ole Granny (highway) gear. I have not gotten underneath the truck yet to get the number off the axle, or checked any other place quiet yet.

It just seems odd that it does not (lock) into gears like I am accustom to with other vehicles is all. A normal day in the life acceleration (not hard) usually has it shifting around 2200 to 2400 rpm, but just never feels like it is committed to that gear if that makes since.

makes total sense to me. I thought the same thing when I first got mine but it has either gotten better or I have gotten used to it. Just a little help for you to figure out your gears....I have the 3.55 rear gears and at 60 mph I run 1450rpms, if you have the 3.21 rear gears then you will be below 1400rpms at 60 and if you have the 3.92 gears then you will be around 1650rpms at 60.

These fly by wire transmissions may be high tech but they're the worst transmissions I've ever experienced. I don't have any problems with mine but like redmans it either over reacts to the slightest touch or has not enough response at times and never consistent like it knows not what to do. But it has nothing to do with learning to adjust to the drivers style. It is its own program and style and it needs improvement. I don't see problems like this in other makes of fly by wire transmissions and it "SUX" plain and simple. It's mostly because of the de-tuning and de-throttling on the part of Chrysler causing the sometimes irregular shifting and it needs serious performance improvements. They need to adapt the new 68 RFE six speed to these computers and the new Hemi. Other wise they can have this peice of crap that's in here now, lol!
