Default Problem with remote starter.

I have the x2 button on my FOB. It has always worked. Today it was 95 degrees out and I wanted to start the truck to get the AC working before I got in. But when I hit the x2 button twice it would only beep once and then it would not respond for several seconds when it would beep again when I pressed the button. In other words you could not press it fast enough to get it to start. The lock and unlock worked just fine. Never had a problem with it before today.

You must have been below a 1/4 tank.

My truck will not remote start when the gas is below an 1/8 of a tank. It will turn itself on like it's gong to start and then shut down. Big4x4dodge09 if yours is starting with the light on that doesn't seem right.

i had the same problem but with my Dak. I checked everything and turns out that the switch/pin in the hood was the problem. I opened the hood and press the switch with my finger and then used the remote start and worked. I called the dealer and they wanted $60.00 for that switch. What i did i put a rubber cap on top of the switch so that it will go further down and problem solved. I had the remote start checked under warranty and the changed that same switch. I guess is a bad desing on them.. Check yours, Good Luck.......

Look on your EVIC through the window when you try to start, it may tell you why.

Some reasons why remote start will fail....

Truck not locked, although the remote start should lock the truck if this is the case
Windows down
Door open
Hood open
Air temp sensor fault

Oky Dok. I had time at lunch to go check it out. Yes the EVIC told me that the hood was ajar. But it wasn't. So Looked around and found that switch is located in a little cup near the radiator support. So I held it down and the remote started functioned properly. I let go and the engine shuts off. So I close the hood real slow and see that there is no way that the hood could push down on that button. Can someone look and see if there is a little rubber bumper or something on the hood that pushes that button down. Looks like there is a hole in the hood that they might stick in a little rubber piece, but it is missing on my truck. This was before I read these replys, so I might have to put something on the switch like mentioned by dakota_raven. So thanks for that. I guess it pays to look at the EVIC. But I was not in the cab when I tried it. So problem solved....sorta.
