I changed the bolts myself. Had the leak passenger side. But changed driver side while I was on it!

Only 2 bolts per side. The ones furthest to the rear on each side!
The new bolts are stainless and better quality!

How long did it take you? Did you replace the gasket while you were at it? Any pics?

An exhaust leak sound coming from the front end of the vehicle when cold that goes away when the engine comes up to temperature is a classic tell-tale sign of a manifold leak. The heat swells the gasket which in turn seals the leak.

Header bolt head snapped, I'll almost guarantee it. I just had to replace the rear two on the driver's side on the 4.7 in my Grand Cherokee, EXACT same symptoms. You're under warranty - take it in. I'm not, but thankfully there was enough thread sticking out on both of them and I was able to take them both out with my fingers...

Had this fixed on my '09 in August of 2010 with 28,400 miles on the truck. Just started hearing this exact same sound again in the last few days. Truck now has 56k. Any chance the dealer might fix this again at no cost to me since its a reoccurring problem? or am i stuck with it this time? anyone else have this issue more than one time?

'09 life-time powertrain warranty, if you're the original owner, it's still covered.

I think it took about a couple of hours. I only had the leak on passenger side but changed driver side as well.
On the passenger side I had to replace the gasket cuz I had to remove the manifold to get the broken bolt out.

On the driver side I only changed the bolts. I took one out at a time and tightened before taking the the other one.

I took the wheel and liner out to get plenty of space. Make sure you let the truck sit for a couple of hours before starting. The manifold and head hold the heat for a loooong time..

I had mine done a while ago and just a couple of months ago I had the loud ticking. Took it in and sure enough one of the bolts they didn't change broke. Fixed it under warranty.

Had mine fixed too. twice....I had about 48,000 on mine when it happened and it was under the powertrain warranty, so anybody that this happens too. don't pay the dealer a dime to do it.
