Dimming dash when turning off the wiper!
I discovered something interesting on a rainy
day.
First the engine is shut off and the wiper switch is placed in any position except. off.
Then the engine is started and the instrument panel shows dimmed lighting. So far I thing all is normal. Oops the wipers are working.
When the wiper switch is placed to off (it stopped raining, let say), the instrument lighting (including cluster and radio) brightens up.
Is this normal?
Should the wiper system interact with the instrument dimming system?
Let me know if you have observed the same situation.
Feel free to explain that one to me please.

Yep. Wipers on = headlights on = dash lights dim to whatever level you have set. It's a safety feature because having the extra visibility of headlights on while road conditions are rainy is a good idea.

Agreed, its the law here in AR, you have to have headlights on when your wipers are on.
I was wondering about this too. I have the exact same truck but I figured it was just me looking at it at the right time or something, and it must be my imagination. Thanks for letting me know that I'm not nuts! LOL.
I have a 2010 slt and the lights quit coming with wipers.Any suggestions?

Have you checked what the option in the EVIC is set for? Did it get turned off for some reason (battery disconnected for a while, service work performed that may have reset the computer)?
