Towing Questions
I will check with the dealer tomorrow to see what they can print for me. If you can, can you guys post what you are towing and what you are towing it with. I will find out the gears ratio and post my truck as well as the trailer I am looking at. Does anyone have an answer to the Equalizer sway control hitch being the same as a load balancing hitch?
Panamag
Yes the Equalizer sway control hitch does perform both load balancing and sway control. It looks like a very good unit. The only difference is that I use a separate sway control and load balancing hitch.
Also, if you are wondering where I got the towing data from, it is Dodge

You can "help" the problem with a few things. A dual purpose sway bar kit will do wonders, but so will an air bag system. I'm a firm believer in them after seeing the 09 run with them.
Throw that all in there, and maybe a gearing upgrade and you'll have something.

I agree 100% with your comments about increased towing capacity. The web has many articles about how the load capability increased without hardware changes.
Here is where I have the issue. Yes the truck can handle more than spec'd in the Dodge database, we all agree. However IF an accident were to occur that resulted in a life changing incident. The blood sucking lawyers would crucify the driver if he knowingly hauled a load above the posted specification. It is not worth the risk.
Also in Panamag's case there are trailers that are ultra light available like the Ever-Lite by Evergreenline that weighs in at 4992 dry. That is the one I am looking at purchasing
