Default Leveling kit issues....

Well first of all i bought a Rough country leveling kit and was prepared to install it on saturday. The kit was actually great quality. My dad and i were gonna get this thing knocked out but after removing the drivers side strut we realized that it wasn't going to work as described in the instructions. After adding the spacer there was no way to get the strut back on! We even went out and bought a spring compresso and still no luck. We had a hard time getting it back on WITHOUT the spacer, there just wasn't enough space! Has anyone else had any issues with this? I'm totally confused. I dont want to send it back to rough country because the kit looks great, but the installation is definitely not as easy as it should be.

I agree with Turk, mine was a pretty straight install. However I did struggle a bit as I did it by myself. I got creative with some bar clamps to help squeeze everything together so I could get the bolts back in. Make sure to disconnect the sway bar and the lower tie rod. Then the entire lower "wishbone" should slide downward. Also make sure your jack or jack stand is under the frame only. I installed the Top Gun Customz kit front and rear. The front took about 2.5 hours by myself, and the rear took about 40 minutes since I had a spring compressor with an 18v impact gun. Check out youtube. There is a guy that posted a video installing something similar on a 2009 4x4. The video should help make everything clear Good Luck!

I had the same problem as you. The spring compressor worked for me though.

i disconnected everything. Followed the instructions to a T. The spring compressor would have worked, but the strut tower was in the way so we couldn't get the compressors back off.

The problem is that spacers are a ...excuse me for giving it to ya straight up, but are a cheap solution for a level and shouldn't be installed IMO. Especially on the '09+ Rams. They don't allow proper configuration and you need to squeeze the heck out of the suspension components to make them fit. 2" is totally max, just as 2.5" is max for the 06-08's. Anything more and your forcing stuff.
Spacers also limit travel and don't allow proper articulation in the suspension.
Read THIS article to understand what I mean.

if your having difficulties, I'd return them and hold out for something better.

I think I agree with you, I read the article, and it makes since, Id rather do what is better for my truck, I just ordered a 2 inch kit, but I'm thinking on not using it now and going with new shocks instead.

I can't believe all the things gone wrong stories I have been reading. Just for a 2 inch lift is it really worth it?

I would have to agree with most of these comments. I have installed the rough country kit, it was very easy to install, the issues I have is that it squeaks and the front end has limited suspension now. I find the ride very hard. A buddy of mine who is a mechanic showed me how much of the shock ur compressing to use this kit. I will be looking into another system shortly.
