This is bull s**t !!
I was just venting! Thanks for the replies. My main ISSUE with the brake controller not being included is that these are not trucks...they are computers with a bed on the back. That being said, I now have to ADD, SPLICE into the wiring and hang a contoller under the dash. When it could have SHOULD HAVE been integrel! I have have to add a computer to my computer...you think someone who was over in the sandbox wouldnt bitch about such trivial s**t. Im out.
You don't have to splice anything. The brake controller harness plugs right in to the factory plug. If you buy a decent brake controller like a P3 or prodigy - you can get a harness that plugs into both the truck and controller without having to splice the harnesses together.

Somebodys grumpy....
Im kind of getting sick of posting this so this will be my last one... I understand your pissed (however, I do believe this was not the dealers fault) BUT youc an still add the trailer brake controller to the truck from the factory...
Check under the dash there should be two grey plugs, if you have both, your truck ahs been wired, go buy the factory controller in black with the matching black bezel and then follow the instructions in this forum on installing it. I dont recall the part numbers for the controller, but te dealer should be able to find it for you. Once you have installed the controller have the dealer flash/reprogram the truck to add the factory trailer brake controller as another option and it should work flawlessly...
Problem solved
If you dont have those plugs then youll need to go buy an aftermarket controller and use that instead
Again problem solved
And no "tow package" from dodge includes a controller, its one of those boxes you have to check when ordering with an added cost
Your welcome

Really two issues.
1. You did not know what you were ordering, needed to do more homework
2. Dealer did not try to hard to sell options at the time of order. But mine did not either. I just told them the options I wanted.
If ordering a truck do it online and print it out. This way you know all the options available to you.
Controllers are somewhat new to light duty trucks, across all makers. It will be a while before you see them in a standard package.

Another thought on this... I hope it is never part of a "IV hitch" package on the 1500. Most trucks tow very little and the ones that do pull small stuff. Why should everyone have to pay more when they do not need it? It is amazing the number of hitches that never get used.
I have a Sport with 3.92 gears and the trailer hitch from Dodge. I also have a boat and trailer that gross out at about 9000lb. These trailers have hydraulic surge brakes, so the controller would have been a waste of time for me. I nearly ordered one anyway just to see the extra switches on the dash!
