Question insulation glue on carpet

Hi all, I parked my 2009 Laramie CC 4x4 out in the sun and came back to a big glob of tar and insulation melted into my brown carpet. This was on the passenger side.

Called the dealer and asked them about it and they told me they had seen this in Jeeps but no the Rams yet. They ask me to drop it off and they'll get their detailing department to try and clean it up. has anyone else had this problem? If so did the dealer take care of it or did you clean it up yourself? Surely they won'y have to replace the carpet?

Thoughts?

Dropped at the dealer this morning, they cleaned the carpet and got the "black tar" off the carpet. They said there is a "technical bulletin" that Dodge issued about this problem so they cleaned it for free.

Good to know if anyone else out there had this issue. Picking up after work today. I'll let you know if there are any issues with the spot clean.

There were a few people complaining of that happening last year. Funny it took so long to happen on yours.

Default Update#2

Picked up my truck last night and dealership did a great job removing the stain. I can't tell it was ever there. They also cleaned the airbox under the dash of all remaining tar. In addition to this they also detailed the truck for no charge! It was washed, all the carpets shampood, the interior was cleaned as well as the interior glass. I felt like I was driving off the lot in a new truck.

Very satisfied with the service at Egolf Dodge in Hendersonville NC!!!

Try Johnson's baby oil. Let it sit there for a few hours and it might soften the goo.

Deepwoods OFF on a paper towel. Then clean with soap/water and wax. It will remove the sap even after it gets hard.
I have to do this every month as I have pine trees over my driveway.

Default Black goo!

I've had my truck for just under two years and just had this problem. I found a huge chunk of "black goo" on the carpet and carpeted mats. Is there a technical bulletin on this problem? If so does someone know the number.

Don't have the number, but if you call your dealership and explain the problem, they should take care of it. Mine sure did. Good luck.

My 2009 did the same thing. It kept falling off. I took it to the dealer and they reattached the insulation, but it looks like it is coming off again. Did your stay on ok coolatc? Did anyone ever find the TSB? I searched, but not sure what to call it.
