Default Curt Hitch

Hey guys, Im sorry, Ive done a bit of searching and I'm looking for a class 4/5 hitch for my 1500.

I dont love the factory bolt onto your bumper receiver they are selling, so I found the Curt hitches. They look great alone, I just dont know what theyll look like on the truck... I have a laramie anybody install one of these, if so hows it look and how is it as a hitch?

Thanks

Mark

Never had to put on a hitch. My truck came with one from the factory. I think the one from the factory is a reese hitch. I looked at the curt hitch that would be about the same as mine, and looks like it bolts on top of the frame rail instead of the bottom like mine. I would do some checking or talk to your dealer and see what they would suggest. I have taken one off my old truck and it was pretty simple. As long as the holes are already there, it shouldn't be too difficult to install one.

I think the factory Class IV receiver hitch is a pretty slick unit for these trucks. Plenty stout (12,000 lb nominal rating), does a nice job of tucking the structure up under the truck and permits use of the spare tire carrier. Mine certainly doesn't bolt to the back bumper anywhere. I don't think you were looking at the same unit.

DVSk8r... Could you post a couple pics or email them to oleksakjr@gmail.com

I'd love to get the factory class IV hitch, but unless someone here is selling one or wants to do a swap for one forget about it! WAY overpriced from the dealer... I'd love to get the class III hitch add-on for the bumper but its only class III and I hate that dump cap that covers the screw on the "plate step" as I like to call it
