Either your MDS is no good or you are just an irratic driver, I find if you drive a bit vigorous well you never see the eco light until you are slowing down to stop. Now if I drive calmly and no jack rabbit starts and keep the speed or use cruise when possible it stays in MDS I don't hear it factory exhaust or maybe I have a good one but even a tech who did my A/C flash and I wanted them to drive it and see if my MDS was functioning because I was not hearing this droan like everyone else . I have seen the light come on at almost 100 kms/hr and stay on as long as I didn't get a hill or something. He said that you can tell by the tach when it goes in and the light comes on the same time but he could not hear the change, in fact he was so curious he called and asked if he could drive it a bit to see with another person in the truck. They both were techs and they said that I am lucky mine is the quietest MDS function that they ever did not hear LOL I only have 14000 kms and have had 6 oil changes just due to time not mileage, that 6 month thing is BS they want you to blow up your motor right when warranty expires. Mine gets a change at 2/3 months depending on mileage if 2 months and mileage is low then we go another month but never more than 3 months. The light only came on once or possible never cuz we have an Avenger and Iknow the light has come on on it. Regardless my first oil change was at 1000 kms only a month into it and it was dirty. Next one wasnt as dirty and was 3 months.

Yea, it really bothers me that they can hide under that "As per design" stance. If that were these case we would all have it, have it from day 1, and all to the same degree. Just doesnt make sense and, as a little man in the world, take offense to them handling it like this. So of course I have challenged them on every front. And a recent BBB complaint letter I got makes it pretty clear they consider it Normal and will only help if there are complete Failures. When I raise the fact that my issues were not present during test drives, didnt begin until about 3K in, not all owners have the problem, and those that do suffer it to different degrees, tells me its not As Per Design by definition. Anyway, see there response letter here:

I appreciate reading the responses from other Ram owners out there. I'm at the point where I've gotten used to the droan noise at certain speeds when MDS has kicked in. It sounds ok over 60mph. I've even gotten used to the lurch it will make from time to time. However, I refuse to let the dealer flash my computer in an attempt to fix it. I've read it makes things worse, and I'll lose mpg. I do intend to keep plugging at Dodge until they admit the problem and fix it before the truck rolls off the line.

Thanks...

NO REFLASH gets my vote...! Proven fact that it makes the truck worse.
Friend of mine had his 2011 reflashed, now the truck is a dog, it also now shifts worse after the flash update.
Vibrations caused by the MDS are also alot worse after the reflash. If your dealer recommends it, DONT DO IT, you`ll wished you hadnt.

Default one person met with success...

One of the repsonder to my site www.dodgeramhell.com reportd some success (thnaks Doug!). Not sure it will work for the rest of us. Here is his report:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Go to another dealer and start the process over pretending like you don't know anything about this issue and let the tech admit to the service writer that your tranny is "broken". Be "dumb" and give in that you really know what is wrong. Can't hurt to try it!

There was no mention of a TSB, assuming that is transmission service
bulletin. I'm convinced they replaced mine because the tranny tech
admitted that it was broken and, more importantly, because it was an aftermarket warranty Dodge made money on the deal and didn't have to admit any fault.

And, I can't express enough how the change in transmission shift program has helped. I hold all of the gears just a little longer, it doesn't go into MSD mode as early and overdrive lock-up comes in later. My gas mileage hasn't changed a bit other then the first week when the computer was "relearning" the new shift program. Dodge will insist that they didn't change this, but they did.

72combo - you are lucky that MDS mode is so smooth. I have an 09 and if it wasn't for the SC Tuner with the option to disable MDS, I would have traded the truck a couple years back.

To the OP, it really feels and sounds EXACTLY like one of the posts here, " driving in 3rd gear when it should be in second ".

However, running for a while now with the SC FlashPaq and the customizable trans schedule, flashing back to stock for a deal visit reminds me how really bad this MDS crap is and stock shifts are too soon for my taste. MDS is dead as far as I am concerned and I still like my truck too much to trade it yet.

Good luck with the buy back, hope they put some r&d in to fixing this once and for all. Maybe we will all get a better truck as far as MDS goes should we allow Ram to earn our business again.

We wont be dealing with the MDS much longer guyz, the libtarded EPA will kill the hemi.
Love your trucks now boys, because it wont be long we`ll all be driveing prius`s.
And what killed the old hemi in the past...???... The gas crunch in the 70`s.
Thats exactly what will kill this hemi too, but with alot more force involved.
And just when the hemi was becoming a great motor again, too....rrrrrrrrr.
At least this newer hemi made it farther than the old one did. (1966 to 1972)

Mr. HEMI

Though you may had ticked, rattled, and rolled, you made history once again...
R.I.P yee ole`hemi, you will not be forgotten (2002 to 2014)

Whats the status on this. I have a 2012 and haven not yet experienced this problem. Im waiting...

Why doesnt everyone go to mycarstats.com ... Its very important to register then lodge the complain. Select 20xx ram 1500. I currently am subscribed to 09-12 ram 1500. We all need to post in the same place to show numbers. If we all do than there is a track record of this issue and the actual number of units effected. Do the same on https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/Vehicl...nt/index.xhtml ... both take only a few minutes.

I fear that I will note the same issue here as I did back when I owned the 4.7 2003 qc. There was a intermittent stalling issue with those trucks. Many complaints ... but people seemed very complacent when it came to joining together. In fact, I believe I volunteered to gather names and addresses ... but had little feedback.
