1600 miles; oil change needed?

Bet the oil companies love all you guys who change oil evey 3k miles, especially with syn.... I did have my first oil changed at 3K but it will only be for that first one. 5-6K mile changes from now on out, or whatever Dodge recommends. I know everyone has their own opinions on this, but oil has changed significantly for the better over the years, with longer oil change blessings from all car companies to keep warranties intact. If you're still at the every 3k oil change because that's how its always been done, I highly recommend doing some research on oil. Lots of good articles out there from automotive engineers and independant test labs.
I think its 3000. But I will double check.

I did my first change at 2000, just after the light came on. The stuff that came out was dark dark dark black and stank.... I used regular old dino-oil for the next 5k miles, then switched over to Synthetic and change that every 5 or 6k....
It's just a matter of personal preferance... but I've been running synthetic for many years and will continue to do so. Walmart sells a gallon of Mobil 1 for $24.50.....
But for sure, do a change as soon as your light comes on and get the original stuff out of there... Mine looked and smelled horrible.....

All the oils rated for these 09/2010 vehicles will go longer then 6k. Doing it at 3k is a waste of oil and money.Its as hard as stopping smoking(3 and 3) but it can be done.LOL I find 6k and 6 a lot and a pain now.My older cars it was 12 and 10k to 15k.

I am a very light driver and only have just over 10,000 miles on my truck. I have been changing oil at at 3000 miles. I am certain the user manual says 3000. I don't want to mess up my warranty. But I am up to going longer between oil changes. Seems way to frequent for me. I look at 5000 as a good place to start. I have not seen an oil message since the very first one at 2500 miles.

6000 for dodge. I believe ford is going to run every ten thousand miles. The autoakers are increasing the service. Ill change my first at 3000,6000, then every 6000. Just info..Amsoil has new XL brand and OE brand OE is cheaper and is for the 3000 miler changers,oil is good past that to 6000 or more. Check it out. Make sure you have a good filter

They were set to go off at around 2500 miles the first time.Mine usually goes off between 5300 and 6000 after that but your driving style could make it half that or anywhere in between.No it can't be turned off.
