time for new tires
i have a 09 ram sport 4x4 with the 20s and am looking to get some new tires, would like to get michelins but are just not in the buget. im leaning towards bfg long trail ta (highway tire not allterain) also like the cooper zeons but heard people lose 1-2 mpgs on these tires! (fuel costs are already bad enough) any info or feed back would be great!
Almost any tire other than the stock will loose a little MPG, that is about the only good thing about the GY's.
If MPGs are a concerned....
1. Stay with stock size
2. Pay attention to the tread pattern, and more importantly, the weight of the tire.

Try the General grabber HTS. They were rated high from the tire rack reviews. That's what I am going with and they are also a low rolling resistence tire which helps with gas mileage.

My EVIC is showing 1.5 litres more per 100km

My Grand Cherokee came with the BFG Long Trails. At 61k miles they still had decent tread on them. GREAT highway tire, dry and wet pavement traction were excellent.
My only complaint was I had to put five plugs in them while I had them and lost one to a side gash BUT ALL OF THESE EXCEPT ONE happened off-pavement. The one on pavement I picked up a pretty big screw, which can happen to any tire.
I replaced them with Nitto Terra Grapps, I really needed a tire with a thicker ply rating and better off-road performance as I am using the Jeep more and more off-road (camping, trout fishing, etc.) and leaving the truck for more chores, big game hunting, and fishing with the boat.
I LOST 3-4 mpgs with the Nittos, but the trade-off was worth it to me. Never realized how good the BFGs were on gas till I went with the more aggressive A/T Nittos...

I see that you are in Windsor. I would be looking at a good four season tire. I had Long Trails(stock) on my Xterra and found them to be a good summer tire but hydroplaned in the rain. How much ice do you get in the winter, maybe a factor to for you?
