I think all 4 windows are prone to it, just you tend to use the drivers side more going through drive throughs, abm's etc. My drivers window is worst, the rest each have a few.

little history on my truck it’s an 09 purchased new from the dealer and it’s a two wheel drive so no crazy mud or dirt encounters I have a straight axle 4runner for that. From what I can tell it’s only on the driver’s window but that is the window that gets used more than any other window on the truck. I just hit 15k miles so my truck doesn’t see a lot of road time.

So the question is how many Ram owners have to ban together to get our new windows thru warranty? Because I really don’t feel like spending any money to have the same issues happen to the other three windows and have to come out of pocket for them when the time comes.

 

I thought i read a few years ago that there was a TSB on this (3rg gens) and had the weather strip replaced or upgraded.

Some vehicles may have been built with the weather strip not having a coating of soft protective flocking on the surface that contacts the window. The repair involves installing a revised door inner belt weather strip.

Maybe it carries over to 4th gens with enough voicing?

 

kay9 - thanks but its the window that is scratched not the tint and we just had an RRT a few months ago to replace the window rubber seals due to them folding when you roll down the windows.

 

Ahh shoot. Good luck and hope you find a good resolution. I know to well that any scratch stands out on a black truck.

 

I have them on my drivers side also but its on the inside and scratched my tint. I think it was from when i passed a plow during a snow storm and i rolled down my window and got scratched from that dirt snow. Just a guess.

I really love Chrysler products due to their designs and forward thinking. The thing that just ticks me so off is this kind of crap! As from my earlier posts, it's not just on the trucks, but other models as well(aka-my wife's car). There is obviously a bad mixture in the glass making process that is causing these glass issues. They need to get it figured out and take care of their customers if they want to stay a profitable self sustaining company in the future. Hope you can get this problem taken care of soon. BTW<Nice truck you have there!

 

that's funny cuz my 30 year old Chevy has scratched windows vertically too. Hm seems they have no way of keeping dirt off vehicles and well if you see a lot of crap on your window don't roll it down, kinda like common sense.

 

My last truck (Chev) never had any window scratching issues and i treat both vehicles the exact same, it's a poor window seal design which captures grit inside the door. The outer seal doesn't stop enough crap from going in and then once its in there it doesn't come out. The dealer has all ready taken my door apart and said the inner seal was full of grit.

And my scratches are on the outside, in the glass deep enough to catch a finger nail
