I have a 09 sport with buckets and floor shifter and this will be my second winter in alberta, never had any issues with snow and the shifter.

 

09 SLT column shift, 4x4, same as above... second winter int alberta, and never had any issues like this...

 

A quick fix might be to get some EDPM from a pond shop and cover up the area. I used EDPM for a fender liner 5 years ago and its still going. Easy to work with and Firestone makes the best.

 

Last winter I frequently went offloading in the sloppy snow even up to my bumpers and it would freeze hard over night, not one compaction problem.

 

I have an early build 09 Sport with console, 1.5 winters, lots of slushy snow no problems. Maybe a 2010 issue?

 

I don't know if this is possible as I am recovering from shoulder surgery and can't really crawl under my truck. I have for over 20 years used window type screen to protect my radiator from bugs and rocks. Is there any way a fellow could take a piece of this type of screen and somehow lodge up in there or tie it up in there to protect the area that is getting clogged up with snow??? I know the screen has holes but I'm pretty sure it would quickly clog up with snow.

 

09 Sport, quad cab, floor shift. 2nd winter no problems so far.

 

Just had this issue in my 2010 sport. Was able to pull out the little tab next to the shifter and stick a pen down there to unlock the shifter to allow me to shift into neutral and start the truck...

 

Was that the end of it, or did you have to clear out snow from around the transmission shift linkage too?

Last year I did some serious snow driving in the three blizzards and their aftermath. I didn't have any issues like this.
