Default 15 minutes to fuel up.

I have been driving in lots of snow and -25 weather. Went to fill up today, less than a quarter tank and it took forever to fill. Kept acting like the tank was full, after 15 mins. of freezing got in just over half a tank and gave up. Is there a tank vent that could be froze on the gas tank, was wondering if anyone has had this problem. (2010 1500 TRX)

as far as i know it isnt the vehicle. i used to have an '09 nissan sentra se-r and it did it at an ESSO station here in ontario. i remember it being in the spring/summer too so it wouldnt have been something frozen. i just remember being really p!ssed. i mean there could be something wrong with the truck. but it only happened once with my car and i just assumed it was the pump.

Been filling up at the same station for months, this is the first time it has happened, a lot of chevy trucks in the great white north were having fuel tank vent freezing issues last winter. This is my first dodge so I think it has to be the same problem.

I had that happen on my truck at a Safeway gas station. I just pulled the nozzle out about 3/4" and it worked fine.

First off, if it was freezing up, dont you think that would indicate some sort of water in the gas issue...?...and i didnt read in here where you were having any driveability issue with your truck. One would think you`d have a running problem if frozen. Try pulling the gas nozzle out a little bit or move it up and down and left to right within the filler neck to see if that makes a difference. I dont really think you have any problem here, just operator error with the gas fill nozzle. Possible vent flap in the over-fill tube might be stuck shut too. That would allow gas to crawl up the fill pipe and cause the gas pump to shut off the nozzle too.

Chevy`s were always known for filling up issues due to how the fill neck into the tank was designed...just plain engineering flaws for chevy

I tried moving the nozzle several times, I called the dealer and they said it is very likely the fuel tank vent is froze from all the snow and ice build up under the truck. They have seen this before, so I will take it to them after work and post the results once they have checked it out.

You sure it was your truck and not the pump? Could you try a different gas station? I had this happen once and it was the gas station pump running slow.

I'd say it could have been the pump. I've had some pretty slow pumps before and after awhile I give up and move to a different pump and it works just fine.

I had a 2007 Mustang GT that would do that all year round the dealer said the filler tube was to small and Ford was working on fixing the problem. If I turned the pump handle upside down it would fill up fine.

Have not had that problem with my RAM

Actually, it's probably the way you inserted the nozzle into the gas filler neck. It seems that the new(er) designs have to be seated in there just right before they will actually work. I've had this problem once on my 10 ram where it kept clicking like it was full. The 08 and up challengers and chargers had this issue as well. If you move the nozzle out a bit or reposition it, I'd be willing to bet that the problem would go away.
