Michelin LTX M/S2 update.
I just figured I would let you guys know that I finally got to take a long drive on the new Michelins this past Thanksgiving weekend. Put about a thousand miles on them.
They were very smooth and quiet on the highway. I did not notice any fuel mileage loss at all. Actually got to use them in some snow and they did quite well. Not so good on ice though. I almost slid into the banks outside ATM machine when I hit a patch of black ice.
They cornered real nice at speed on the on/off ramps, no wallowing like I thought they might. Very smooth almost floating type of ride on the highway. My vibrations are completely gone. BTW, Those HPs were the culprit for my bad vibes.
$1100.00 installed and balanced on some new kind of video game balancing machine. Pretty cool it was all done by computer and you could see the tire on the screen. If it was out of round it would shade in the highs and lows. Luckily mine were perfectly round. The guy was good. He would let the air out of the tire and move the tire around on the rim until he found a spot that was close so as not to use too many weights. Not too many places do that anymore...
70,000 mile wear warranty too. I will have sold this truck by that time....
Any way just thought I would throw this info out there, in case anyone was looking at the Michelin LTX M/S2.

Thanks for the update. This is my tire of choice when the HPs are done. Unless money is an issue, then I will have to look for something cheaper.
They are more pricey then that north of the boarder. Almost $1500 up here, but with 115,000kms warranty, they may be worth it.

I have had two sets of LTXs. Came stock on a Dodge Raider I had in the early '90s. Good tire but just not aggressive enough for my uses so I sold them off pretty quickly.
I had a set on the ex's Grand Cherokee and they were fine. Vehicle was a 4x2 Limited and for the daily driver, street use only vehicle the tires were fine. Very quiet, wore quite well and handled just fine...

The tires Goodyear puts on new cars and trucks are not the same quality that you buy
new. I have about 5 pair of new Goodyears and they always fail around 20K. I hope they are better on the Ram.
A lower cost alternative for tires is the General grabber HTS. I've had these on my avalanche and they are the best tires I've had in some time. You can't go wrong with the Michelin's though.

Yeah. I have always thought that is such a stupid thing to do for a tire company. Someone doesn't get 20k on the tires why does Goodyear think that person is going to run right out and buy another set of Goodyears? I sure didn't. Why not put the best tires they can on the new car so people would be happy to go out and buy another set of the same thing.
I dunno.....
I dunno.....
Thanks for the review. This will probably be my next set of tires. I've got 43 k on the goodyears now with a fair amount of tread left on em but the truck shakes at high speeds. I'll probably push them to 50 or even 60 k before trashing them though.
