I just had this conversation with the service manager when I picked mine up from the HVAC recall done. He was the one that brought it up. He said the same thing ATTONO said. Undoubtably the factory is too tight to put a little grease on the splines.

I too have the 32 gallon tank and experience the "thud" after coming to a complete stop from time to time. I've always thought in my mind that it is transmission/drive line related, but I will now pay attention to my fuel gauge!

MDS = Multiple Displacement System. It is the system that selectively cuts power to 4 cylinders during certain times of low power requirement. Its goal is to save fuel. It worked 100% seamlessly on our Grand Cherokee but on the Ram it seems to be very obtrusive.

I'm changing the oil in mine this weekend before going up north. I'm going to pull my driveshft and grease the splines while I have it up.

Dakota ....Yours looks pretty good too.

This was widely discussed before and happened to alot of us. I cant remember what it was but i thought it had something to do with the rear differential... Anyway it turned out to be a temporary issue with the truck breaking in and would eventually go away

Update...
Found this thread from over 1 year ago and there are others....
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...-stopping.html

Seems to be an issue with the driveshaft slip yoke not being lubed enough. I havent heard of any issues coming from this and it eventually goes away

There were actually two separate issues. One pertained to a light thud felt when stopping if the fuel tank was around 3/4 full. The other was a very pronounced jerking motion that felt like someone ran into your rear bumper. That one happened a few seconds after stopping and seemed to actually move the vehicle slightly. The fuel tank-related one is like "huh, did I just feel something?". The other was more of an "oh, crap, was I just hit?"

I have the fuel-related issue on the Ram and it is still around after 10K miles. The other one we had on our Grand Cherokee, which has the same engine and transmission combo.
