odd question
There was a thread on this when the '10's came out. Apparently the Dodge engineers were able to squeeze out a little better economy with a flash that reduces idle fuel during coasting.
I would not like that feature but others do like it.

Mine does a little, but I have a SC with a custom shift schedule, which I need to put back to the SC schedule for winter. On slick roads my rear tires tend to spin when shifting to 2nd.
My '09 has begun down shifting much more noticably since I switched out the 3.21 gears for 3.92's. This is without the Tow/Haul mode on. Its alway done it in T/H, especially while towing. Have no idea what if any connection there is.
where was this thread or at least a name.. any ways if this is normal then i actually like it driving the big trucks its kinda comforting having the engine do some of the stopping work especially in the winter... if this is normal... if its not then the stealership is gonna have a **** storm to deal with... but it seems from what ive gathered here that the 10+ its normal illbe asking the dealer tomorrow
thats what i figured but from the sounds of it i guess its coming to the gas pods too i dunno i got some Q&A that needs to be done at the dealer about the truck tomorrow so ill ask
It's not the ECO mode coming on. It's the factory downshift schedule. Mine does it all the time when coasting down a hill. It was annoying at first, but I soon saw the benefit when you get to the bottom of that hill and start going back up. No lag while waiting for the transmission to drop back down. Then again, it pretty well negates fuel efficiency by not being able to coast freely.
thanks 05dakotaHO answered somequestions not all but it seems like it i there i do have the 3.92 as well from my understanding it has nothing to do with it though lol my ECO light does come on when the bar gets low enough on decel. does that eco light mean your in 4cyl mode didnt know we had that on the trucks
