MDS Question
The only time the ECO light comes on in my truck is when my foot comes off the gas... and the light disappears as soon as I touch the pedal. MDS doesn't mimic throttle response so I know for certain ECO can't be an indicator of MDS operation.
Today I used my SC to disable MDS, so if you follow the line of thought that ECO displays when MDS is active I should never see ECO on my EVIC when MDS is disabled right? But, even with MDS disabled the ECO light still shows up every time I take my foot off the gas...
At least in my truck, MDS and the ECO indicator have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

MDS will not work if you are using anything but a 5w-20 or 0w-20....not to mention if Dodge finds out you have been using 5w-30 and you have a warranty issue on the engine (piston, lifters, etc) they could void the warranty on the engine....just a thought.
What did you do to disable MDS?

Gary is absolutely correct...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope this finely gets thru to people on here because this is gettin old.
I just got my truck last week and thought that the eco light was MDS.
I find it sounds different, kind of a groan sound when the light was on. Just assumed that it was because it was now a 4cyl, and that crappy sound must be the sound of a 4 cyl. Anyway thanks for the info.

Hey guys,
I am just wondering how I can tell if my MDS is working on my truck. I have a flowmaster exhaust with tips out the back but I can't hear or tell if my MDS is kicking in or not. My last truck (2006 Ram) had a magnaflow exhaust and it was VERY noticeable when MDS would kick in but for this new one it's incredibly hard to tell. I doublechecked on my DSP to make sure it was set to on. Anybody have any input on this?
I am running 5w-30 oil down here in South Florida. Could that be it?

Think I will muddy the water a bit. It seems when you are talking mds and the "fuel saver" light you may need to also know when the truck was built.
If I can believe the Allpar site: " Chrysler has introduced iDFSO, Interactive Decel Fuel Shut-Off, software that cuts fuel to the engine while decelerating, to increase gas mileage. The amount of fuel shutoff is increased with certain engine speeds. This system increases both city and highway gas mileage, and lights a Fuel Saver indicator light when active.
The system is being phased in on 2009 model year cars and will be on numerous 2010 vehicles. For 2009:
This may be adding to the confusion to what is the light really showing.
