Default Rust control module

Has anyone installed the rust control module in their truck??? When I bought mine a month ago, they offered 10 years of under coating, or the rust control module which is guarunteed to keep your truck rust free for 10 years?? they were both the same price. I opted for the rust control module, but havnt had it installed yet. I have heard they dont work as well as the undercoating, so now I am wondering which is better before I have in installed....

I got the module, they wouldn't let me leave with the truck untill they had it installed, just to make sure it was "protected"

I hear that if you have the RCM installed in your vehicle and you lean against it, your hair falls off your arms and legs and you never need to shave again....
Works like one of the electric hair removers women use.....

They are still selling those things? Make sure they sell you some hybrid muffler bearings along with it.

they covered this when i was in mechanic school. some big university did a study using those big garages that do like a year of damage over nite. they compared three treatment types and did like a short film on it we watched.
it showed that the undercoating was the worst and and allowed moisture in and to be trapped against bare metal. it was also shown to be worse than no treatment if it was put on an older car that already had rust.

second best was the module but it didn't put enough charge to work in really bad conditions like in the north where they put salt on the roads. helped some but really just delayed the effects for a year or two.

best was the oil based spray. if applied once it was like 50% better than anything else and if reapplied every year like your supposed to it showed a close to 100% effective rate against rust.

Commonly called ECC (Electronic Corrosion Control), it works exactly like the cathode protection for boat motors, bridges, etc., except where those submerged objects have ions in the salt water surrounding them to "circulate" protection around the object, on a vehicle they use a small charge of electricity to circulate the protection throughout the metal...

I live in Eastern Canada where they use alot of salt on the roads...So I think since I just had the module installed, I will also do the oil spray, and that way I should never see rust...

I have the ECC and it works great for Hawaii's conditions. I'm not driving through salt covered roads though
