Default Sunroof

Had a nice suprise yesterday, driving down the highway when my sunroof exploded on my '09. Went to my dealer to see about warranty, they took pictures to send to chrysler, as its up to chyrsler if they'll warranty it or not. I'm not really holding any real hope its covered the way the service person spoke.

How many miles on the vehicle? I know its winter, but was it open/closed? Anything hit it or cracks before it exploded? What about your car insurance coverage.

Insurance will likely be useless here given his deductible is probably more than it will cost to fix.

Since you are in Alaska I am guessing your other windows were not open?

I have about 20,000 miles on the truck.
It sounded like a large handgun went off inside the cab scared the **** out of me, for a second I thought I lost my engine.
I called my insurance its covered with only a $100.00 deductible.
I don't know what cause to blow out, we had for the last 5 days extreme warm conditions +30, with snow and yesterday it sarted to cool off only +10.
I'm thinking I had water freezing around the seal of the sunroof casing tension on the glass, and a piece of the road gravel flew up and hit it causing the blow out.

Default Something probably hit it. I've had a number of weird

breaks like that. Had a 18wheeler lose a tire two lanes over and part of it hit the rear pass window. I thought it had been shot out, scared the crap out of me... BAM and glass everywhere. Were it not for the pieces of rubber in the back seat I wouldn't have known what hit me, left no other signs.

I would go with your insurance they are usually quick to fix and hardly ever ask tons of questions (depending on the company). $100 bucks vs waiting months on chrysler is definitely the way to go

I wonder if the drain tubes clogged and then froze.

Well I got good news from my dealer today, Dodge is going to warranty the coverage of the sunroof. Now I have to wait a week for the new glass to arrive.
