57,000 trucks if I recall correctly. That would be the entire early run, even those built after the dopers were given the boot. Looks like an engineering problem, a misplaced decimal point. Feel free to bring the drinking/doper video to your dealer and demand a new rearend. He will laugh...and so would anyone within earshot. You need to prove those workers were working on the driveline assembly line the day yours was built and in fact they worked on your unit(they can tell who built what by the way....thats what all those barcodes are for.) My advice is don't come across like a dick to your dealer...you will probably get alot farther with them than playing lawyer.

I also believe they changed vendors who make/supply the differentials
(09/10 diff`s have big issues, thats nothing new to most of us)
Dodge needs to quit cheaping out and go back to the DANA60 for ALL their trucks
DANA60 = BULLETPROOF
Imagine whats going to happen down the road later on when some people will go to "jimmies backyard garage" and "jimmie" has no clue that the fill plug is to low and not get enough lube in the differential`s. People will once again BASH dodge trucks as being junk because the truck broke down. And dodge corp wonders why they are the last inline as a good truck. DUHHHH dodge, get your heads outta your azz`s...!!!!!!
I don't think they intended to change anything, it sounds like it could be related to negligence on the part of Chrysler. In September of 2010 Fox News busted a group of Chrysler Plant workers that had been drinking beer and smoking pot during their lunch breaks and filmed it. That's about the time they were building the 2011's so I'd wouldn't be surprised if these guys took part in some of these builds, lol! I think I'd be shoving these videos in their faces wanting some answers and asking for a whole new rearend! Even if it isn't related, the videos could be used as a powerful tool to get results...just saying! EDIT: What other explanation could there be for drilling the fill hole too low (idiots!)...maybe they're waiting for the drug/boose bust videos to die down before they send out the notices!
They will never replace the rearends. At most you may see a "fix" that involves an extension being built to thread into the current fill hole and moving the inlet to the correct height. More likely a "special tool" for filling the rearends will appear. Your dealer will have it available for their techs. You can buy one at the parts counter.
BTW, not a rep for Chrysler and not embarrased in the least. Every company has turds working for them...not all of them end up on the evening news. Perhaps even where you work...
And you are correct 1954Radio, Chrysler axles are manufactured in the Mexican city of Detroit by cheap pot farm workers. They call the plant Detroit Axle. Right across the river from the American city of Ontario. Just keep pounding your gums together to keep your dentures in...
